Midge Orchids Galore : My Actifit Report Card: January 14 2022
Another grey day. Morning drifted by. I noticed flat tyre on the bike. Lose all motivation to ride - fix now is always the best answer. I pumped it up and dug out new tyre and tube I had shipped from Germany last year. No stock in Australia. Walked the dog.
Also lost a day - thought it was Thursday. Best get out for once a week shopping. Do a walk first to look for midge orchids. A few fringe lilies
Found one brittle midge orchid - top bud is gone and the lower ones not open yet. This is genoplesium baueri - an endangered orchid
Feels like autumn with lots of mushrooms
Walked further down the track to the 2nd grassy patch - fringed midge orchid. It pays to stop and watch as pollinator action is active

Note the yellow flash on the black - pollen
A bit of luck in photo work getting anything in focus

Further up I found another in a known location
Hard to say if this is the same or different
Found one more fringed midge orchid
Still a few large tongue orchids open
New orchid book arrived - perfect timing to see if there were 3 or 4 midge orchids. Nice to have a guide covering the whole state.
Did the shopping. No meat on the shelves. Weird times.
Raked up half the back lawn
Spent a lot of the afternoon going through Free Traffic Shotgun training I bought and am promoting. I like the hands on nature of the training.
