Blue Gums Walk Promises Autumn Orchids : February 14 2022

Had a few chores to do in Hornsby. Pick up a beaut new bicycle wheel. Did the V-day shopping. Got a hard case for my new phone.

Found this lane with the building sides painted - E Morgan Bookseller

Convenience store.

Went down to walk Blue Gum track hoping to find chiloglottis orchids in the rainforest. Test of zoom for the butterfly

First photo cost me a leech on the finger that went on the ground

Did find one bonnet orchid just closing up shop

Love getting photos of the pineleaf geebung against the track

Did find the colony of chiloglottis orchids where I had seen the leaves last visit

One budding

Close up. Probably chiloglottis seminuda

Rosette of greenhoods just off the track. The track is not rich in orchids but it is a quiet place to walk when the quarry is not working

Spider action

Wasp action. Nice to confirm this track for chiloglottis orchids - every new orchid on a new track is a bonus find

Cooked BBQ under an orange sky with the moon rising - looks like ice and fire says my wife

Nice stores in town, look quaint with feel of old familiarity.

Outdoors is alive and well, finding evidence of orchid life, pretty flowers and insects working their wonders.
