Wooden Looking Mushroom Day : July 27 2022

Sun came out. It has been a rare event. Was going to ride down the hill but not feeling up to it. Got some work to do to address the pounding heart rate I get on any extended effort. Focused on finishing last week's investing post.

Did get on the bike to walk one of the National Park tracks. Day 2 of looking out for signs of spring orchids

Saw a cluster of wax flowers. The one I saw first was a bit hard to get to so I switched to the one to the left. Perfect as this is where the bee was

The challenge for photographing - getting two subjects in focus. One is better for the bee and one better for the flower.

The last one has the flower nicely focused and the bee arriving. You decide your favourite

Now these really look like wooden mushrooms - fungi is maybe a better descriptor

I was looking for mayfly orchids seen on the track in prior years. Found some likely leaves and spied a red moving object - not quite 2 mm long and under 1 mm wide

Red mite spider - as best as I could capture

Did find an orchid just finishing flowering - small mosquito orchid - acianthus pusillis. Never did find a mayfly orchid

Never seen a hibbertia flower this big

Quick stop on the way back to check on a greenhood orchid - still only just budding.

Was good to get out riding and to clear the head - been a tough month in the mental health stakes

Dinner: Roast chicken - not done one for a while
