Spring Ant Orchid Time : August 5 2022
Plan for the day is to travel up to Hunter Valley late afternoon to get the house ready for the next open house inspection.
I decided to walk the whole loop of Lovers Jump Creek with enough time to pack. Mission is to check on possibility of three new openers plus some regulars. First is the nodding greenhood - new opener on the track. Next two targets were not showing
First hypericum for the season
This is a new bud for king greenhood. Some time to flowering - September is normal
Crossed over to south side of the creek and on the high side was the first sun orchid for the season - not quite open but part of a colony of 6 or 7 plants.
Next stop is the maroonhoods - plants open now
Around the corner is a new opener
Diamond ant orchid - chiloglottis formicifera
Side on. A new opener is always good news
We headed out just after 5 pm. Good drive up. Dinner in local Thai.
