Cryptostylis Orchids on Lovers Jump Creek : November 16 2022
Was one of those days that just became a drag. Not inspired to do too much. Did get moving on planting out vegetable seeds I bought a few months back. Was holding off doing it until I got back from my tour. I have to say the thought of waiting 4 months to harvest does not fit well with my psyche. Also did the lawn weed killing.
Went walking the local track just as the rain began. Not a lot of rain and maybe enough hours after I applied the lawn weed killer - pink flower on a plant I call the Christmas Tree flower. Looks like a Christmas 🎄 before the flowers open
Bonnet orchids budding. Had to turn around not far from here as track is closed for sewer pipe relining - heavy equipment on the track had me bothered. Wonder how many orchids they will wipe out
Yellow flowers and raindrops
Unusual shape on the dianella with the petals folded back fully
Tracked back to the track that goes to the south of the creek - did find bonnet orchid flowering - not too many open thus far
The mission was all about hyacinth orchids. This time last year, they were already open.
This bud is as close as I got to an open hyacinth orchid
Twin sails on bonnet orchid - cryptostylis erecta
They did a lot of track work this year. Good news is, despite that, there are a lot of hyacinth orchids budding around and below the track work. Next enemy will be wallabies - like last year
Super large bonnet orchid - this will be a bumper season
Did find tongue orchid open - cryptostylis subulata
They are redeveloping the Samuel King Oval - beaut new drainage and new turf being laid today.
A quiet day but I did get the steps in. Some garden chores done
Dinner: Spaghetti bolognese
Stayed away from markets and will wait until after options expiry
