First Visit to Illawarra Escarpment SCA: December 19 2022

Slow start. Plan was to head home earlyish. Did not want to work that way. Decided to do the one key bit of Christmas shopping on the way home rather than going out into busy Sydney shops. Took 20 minutes to find a parking space - so much for avoiding busy Sydney

Did get that done and headed to Mt Keira and Illawarra Escsrpment State Conservstion Area (SCA) for a walk and a sandwich lunch

Not walked this before. Track was not a walking track but a new MTB track - they are seldom good for orchids as they are cut out of deep bush

Any orchid sighting on a new track gets a photo - bonnet orchid leaf and spike to start

Did find one a bit closer to opening as I worked over the top of the escarpment

Very few plants flowering in what is close to rainforest

Did go up to Mt Keira lookout - nice facilities up there and a great view without trees.

Looking north past Bulli Beach toward Royal National Park

Trip home from here was a bit slow - end of the school zones and then city traffic and one breakdown.

In a few days, reverse direction and go back.

My wife had Christmas lunch with her son on Saturday. Dinner for me - cold meats and salad form that. Nice and a night off cooking.
