Moonrise on Black Head Beach to End the Driving Day : January 9 2023

We bid farewell to Nundle - time enough to roll out a Tokyo Black Hatz selfie down Jenkins Street looking south.

The hat has been in hiding through the Covid-19 bullshit months. Prior to that it announced all our travels.

Did get a better photo of the old general store. Day before photo had weird light streaks and was binned.

Dropped in to see my wife's brother to pick up a fishing lure - he makes them - photo to follow. We also had to go to Tamworth for fuel as we do not have enough to get over the mountain to Gloucester. Told you we made a mistake the night before - a 98 kms round trip mistake. Nice day for a drive.

Hard drive over Port Stephens Cutting on the Nowendoc Road with lots of potholes. I was keen to stop at lookouts or to walk for orchids. My wife was keen to keep going and we did.

Stopped in Gloucester for lunch and shopping. Park had this iron cutout sculpture of the Gloucester Tops - the shape behind

Nice drive along Bucketts Way through Dyers Crossing to Nabiac where we joined the Pacific Highway going north.

Not far down known roads to Black Head Beach. We have a rental right on the road along the beach - this is the view

Creek flows on the bend of the beach - sadly the entrance is barred and not open to the sea. Inwas goping for some lagoon fishing. There may be fish but I am not eating anything out of that water. Will be nice to have a few days to chill to the sound of the sea. For me, I will explore a few new places and a few known places for orchids. Will scour for places to fish - beach and rocks this side are not promising. Tough part is my wife's bronchitis is sneaking back - I will be doing stuff on my own

We walked a bit. I stretched out to walk the rainforest slice along the main road. Spied the water lilies flowering well off the road

Managed to get closer - any closer and it would have been glug glug

Had a nice relaxing evening - cheese and biscuits and bought roast chicken dinner with salads. Another night off for chef

Moonrise over the beach was spectacular - not quite full. Photo work was a choice - focus on the moon or the reflection. Reflection was bigger and cloud hides some of the lack of focus on the moon.
