Farmer Brown at home day : January 29 2023

Turned into a hot and steamy day. We have not had a lot of these - temperatures heading to 30C and humidity though the roof. Had a few garden things to tackle - was too hot to do any exercise. 20 minutes planting grass, watering, tieing up tomatoes, fixing damage from possums had me sweating prolifically

Photos are a bit stay at home - geranium just opening up - fab red

Pest cages are doing a good job keeping critters off the tomatoes and the chillis

Harvest - tomatoes cost $6 for four plants - need to harvest two punnets to get cash back - some way to go but first 5 tomatoes are in. Enough beans for two

Some colour - yellow gazanias. These are going gang busters

Sunflowers are grown from seed husks the birds have not eaten. I just turf the husks into this bed and see what comes

Phlox - grown from seed last year - makes this year self seeded

Forecast was for big storms - took the chance to walk when sky broke blue - was hoping it would hold off - looking ominous

Walked past this house full of tropical plants - some sort of trumpet flower reminds me of begonias my mother had

Got the walk done and rain did not come until I got home. Steps done and a day at home with no big walks

Dinner: Cheat Peking duck

Quick and easy pancakes - two cheat meals in a week. This tells you a bit about mindset - getting into a bad loop of not getting results from a lot of hard work
