Midge Orchids and Banksia On Grosvenor Fire Trail : February 5 2023
A late night turns into a slow start day. Did some back lawn tidy up - every time the wind blows the lawn fills with branches. Irks me as we have no trees. Our friend headed off around lunch time
Got on the bike to walk Grosvenor St Fire Trail - mission is midge orchids. Conesticks on a side trail - past the best
Just forming
Pale flax lily - a calmer day made photo work less hard
A bit of a banksia day - this one about half way to fully developed
Two buds in the first two weeks of the journey
Lace monitor lizard was in the track - not sure how I missed standing on it. Was happy to pose
Did find midge orchids
In two spots - one plant only in each spot - corunastylis fimbriata.
Was hoping for more - seem a bit reticent this season. This photo is one budding
Have walked past this spot maybe a hundred times. Took the photo - the tree was very big and has split down at ground level into several parts connected only by the root structure
Found one angophora flowering
The red parts are upcoming buds - a new sighting for me
Pine leaf geebung with bee action. Photographer waited
Quiet tide on the bike - great way to get to find the orchids
Dinner: Macaroni cheese - make a roux and a bechemel with a mix of cheeses
Layer - top with sliced tomatoes and smoked paprika- then bake St 180C for 30 minutes
