Violets rule in Seven Mile Beach NP: February 12 2023
Was a slow start day after the heat of the day before. Plan had been to go into town to scout out a kitchen cupboard. My wife went to visit a friend for a chat and crochet. No drive to town.
Fine by me - got on the bike and did a big loop ride to get to a walking point in Seven Mile Beach NP
Trumpet lilies on the way
They are a sign of summer. Really happy with the photo down the trumpet
Parked the bike at the beach carpark - could hear the sea
Was hoping to find wasp orchids - the start for the day was violets - this one fully open
Becomes a day of stages of opening
When there are no orchids, find something else
Lobelia
This starburst of purple caught my eye - it is smaller than half the size of a US penny. That makes the photo even more amazing - the ants are maybe 2 mm long
Close up
Front on - cyanthillium cinereum - it is an invasive species not endemic
Pale grass lily - it is native
Was good to get out with a ride focus and latch on a walk - humidity was killing
Dinner action: rustle up a pasta dish - onion, bacon, mushroom, zucchini, salami, chorizo, garlic, capsicum
Whack in some passata and season with Worcestershire sauce and ketjap manis - salt and sweet
