Wander tracks above Narrabeen Lake : May 11 2023

A different plan for the day. Got the investing accounting out the way. Then headed down to the beaches to wine storage to pick up some wine. Walk a track off Narrabeen Lake to look for orchids

Always a bother seeing a sign like this. The Australian version of Lyme disease though they never call it that

Always take a photo of the first orchid as I never know if there will be another one - cryptostylis orchid.

Long walk on an old sealed road before reaching the National Park. Next time - ride the bike to here and then walk. Orchids start after the NP boundary

Was a day for mushrooms many I have not seen - like this

Folds of yellow

Lots of orchid leaves but no flowers. This is the closest the mosquito orchid would get. Sun drops over the western Ridge early - takes longer for these to flower

Close to the creek normally means no orchids - these chiloglottis leaves disprove the theory

Native violet - flowers are smaller than seen down south last week.

Back to mushrooms and scurvy weed

Look like ghosts

Tedious walk back along the pipeline brightened by a little yellow.

And a bonus - tiny blue flower and a fly

Turned around to walk back over the foot bridge over Deep Creek. Not walked this bit before - fab still view of the creek

A few clusters of mosquito orchids on the way - one budding

Disappointed to not find any helmet orchids. They were here last year. Disappointing to see how the MTB tracks have smashed the bush. Only walked a few of them. Was good to get up along the creek away from the busy Wakehurst Parkway.

Dinner: Italian meatballs with pasta. Eating healthy and cooked from scratch
