First Helmet Orchid and Beef Ribs : May 12 2023
A blue sky day. A morning drifts by doing the overnight accounting - checking on new ASX trades. My investing coach always used to say "keep doing what is working". Maybe that is what I am doing. Focusing on investing is working. The best part is it does not depend on other people like Internet Marketing does
Walked Lovers Jump Creek
Mushroom action on the way in to Lovers Jump Creek
It is the time - will do a little research to start to find names
Spied the sheen of a helmet - first of the year open - spurred helmet orchid
Corybas aconitiflorus. The best bit is this colony is on south side of the track. The colony on the north side has been wiped out by the Sydney Water track work
This photos shows best why it is called spurred helmet orchid - spurs just below the helmet
Mushroom angles
Geeenhood rosettes above where I have seen flowers in the past
Last week there were 4 - now 5 sharp greenhoods
New sharp greenhood opener - pterostylis acuminata
Came back for the photo of a mushroom growing out of an ant nest
Budding chiloglottis orchid - one of the late flowering types - probably formicifera
Pixie caps orchid with ant pollinator
Hard to get focus in low light with hands in the leech zone
Side on - looks like acianthus fornicatis
The fluff caught my eye against the light. Close up looks like some type of moss. Not seen this before
Heard a rustle as I walked back up from the creek. Saw the sharp point of the tail. Switched to the direction sound was going - maybe a metre and a half away was the head. Red-bellied black snake. Warm enough for them to be out - first time seen on this track
One new opener in the sharp greenhoods just off the top of the steep track
No labellum showing. I did not create the disturbance
Rosette showing a new leaf forming - where I found the colony last week
Stopped at bottle shop on the way back - buying stout for beef short ribs. Nice to catch up with someone I have met on these walks.
Dinner: Wife had cooked Mongolian Beef. I helped with getting a bit more tangy in the dish. A little cheating worked. Cooked the rice to match.
Investing action: Sold 4507.T. Bought LTHM, RUN, CKF.AX. Adjust BAC.
Started to prepare beef short ribs for Mother's Day close to midnight. Sear the short cut ribs
Add in sofrito - onion, garlic, celery, carrot.
Add in a can of stout and same amount of beef stock. Season with Italian herbs plus a fee by leaves. Cooked at 100C all might in the oven.
