First painted fingers orchid in Garigal NP : June 13 2023
Not the best of nights. My wife is getting ill - no idea what it is. Weird dreams do not help. Finished the week's investing post. Pottered around the garden a bit. Drive down to Garigal NP looking for two orchids
Maybe the game should be mushroom hunting - plenty of those
Blue steel version
Epacris longiflora
Yellow mushroom twins
Struggling with ID of these - they are all so similar - NSW coral heath flower
Not paid attention to these for ages - now I see them everywhere - five corner red flowers
Painted fingers orchid - first time on this track - first orchid open for the day
Caladenia picta
Sharp eyes become trained - an orchid leaf for the spring - red at ground level would enable a guru to ID - not me
Mushroom has popped its lid - last time it looked like the next photo
Was not touching to move the twig fallen across the top
Would be remiss not posting a banksia photo - they flower later here
Gentle flow of water over the first of the Cascades
Mushroom and stones on the bank not far from the creek
Walked Bare Creek Trail till the path comes out the rain forest - photo from the creek crossing
Found chiloglottis leaves on the way back not fsr from the main trail - nonidea of these are still to flower but there were no seeded spikes
Location shot - did find budding orchid on the way back
Not in the best shape - heart shaped but hard to ID so early
The plant next door gives a clue. The spike is longer than a helmet orchid. Too bad it has been chewed away. But enough to say an acianthus orchid - not a helmet
This was one of the tragedy orchids. Missed it on the way down - spurred helmet orchid - corybas aconitiflorus - just one open
Not a context photo this time. The kiss have lined up a bunch of clay models on the top of the sign
The chiloglottis orchids hug the western side of the track - nothing flowering. This photo has 3 plants making it look like a greenhood rosette
A small haul of orchids but the painted fingers made up for it. The best part of the walk is it is quiet - no traffic noise. It is steep making for a good walking effort.
At home, the crimson rosellas came by. They first headed down to the gazanias and stripped off a leaf each - then seeds time
We headed into the city to meet a friend for drinks. She has a birthday tomorrow. No photos as we did Vivid photos last week. Was a nice catch up - more wine consumed than two weeks back. Celebrations do that
Home at a reasonable time - made a chest dinner of frozen stuff in the airfryer.
Trade action: Ran stock screens. Bought MT.AS, AAL, FHN, DML.TO, SSM.AX. Credit spreads on BAC, CCL, QS, HFG.DE. Sold PBR.

Super cool photos, too bad that the quality turns bad when we upload them. Also, I hope your wife gets better soon!
Thanks. Photographing small flowers is a challenge. Most are not any bigger than 5 mm across. And then when light gets low, it is harder. Not the same as photographing a park bench.
