Local track walk to celebrate a life well lived : June 15 2023

The more things stay the same, the more they stay the same. More weird dreams. There is a pattern - sleep a few hours really well and then the dreams begin. Not a retunnof old stuff this time. That helps. Pottered around at home onna blue sky day

June 15 is always a tough day. My mother would have been 99 today. This spurred helmet orchid is for her. RIP.

The other day someone liked a lichen photo - here is a new one

Last week there was a budding chiloglottis orchid - brush turkey has scratched them out - two plants exposed

Saw the heart shaped leaves in the undergrowth and two things looking like helmets. Mushrooms - not helmet orchids

Tough photo work. Could not rest hand on the moss - shook the spike. Flower is the size of a match head - acianthus pusillus

A little further on - acianthus fornicatus. Walked back to cross the creek on the south side. No progress on the greenhoods that side - next week will be the first. Coastal maroonhood will take longer

We were due to have a guest staying over. Thst got me cooking a dish to add to the chicken curry my wife cooked. My task was to cook Mongolian beef. Found a recipe to follow PF Chang recipe

It is all about crisping up cornflour covered rump steak

Then stir fry in a sauce of garlic and ginger and lemon grass (my add) and more corn flour.

Slide in some scallions and serve with rice. Next time: more crisp. Less corn flour. A bit of ketjap manis to jazz up salty and sweet.
