Carnival of Finger Orchids in Seven Mile Beach NP : September 14 2023

Spent the morning looking after our friend's puppy while the ladies went ti knitting group. Was easy enough - play a bit, walk a long bit, sit still a bit and she went to sleep.

We drove up to Berry Markets - took the bike to ride a bit to a walk spot and then ride back. Parked the bike and cut across the bush to find the track - first orchid found there. This is an easy start to ID - caladenia carnea - pink fingers

The carmine bands and the calli on the edge of the labellum

Next up is without the bands and has dumpy petals - a caladenia catenata - carnea hybrid perhaps

More confusion - the lobes are more flared and coloured on the edges

Not walked this far before - the ramp is a known marker when I cycle to the middle of the track. Focused on differences on the way back - just one photo

Short ride - longer walk than normal - at least 1,000 caldenia flowers open with maybe 4 types on show.

Dinner: Friend came over with puppy. Salmon sous vide and garlic-chilli prawns.
