First King Greenhood in Seven Mike Beach NP : September 18 2023
Another hot day in the 30s on the horizon. Best get out a little earlier to ride to the far end of Seven Mile Beach NP. That way I will have walked most of the NP before we go back to Sydney tomorrow
Walked the north side from Beach Road first - the obligatory native violet photo. Only saw 2 open
Mission was to see if there were any fingers orchids and check if any greenhoods are still going. Cannot recall if I have seen them this side - first up a caladenia carnea right on the track
One across the track - similar but with wider bands and not quite carmine
The third one has no red at all but it has the same dumpy fingers - looks like they are all carnea-catenata hybrids
A few blunt-tipped greenhoods still going. Last time there were 50 flowering - now just a few
Side on of another pterostylis curta. A few paces on was a much taller greenhood with a more prominent helmet
It has the same twisted labellum but the yoke is not the same as curta
Front on - pterostlyis baptistii
Got down a little lower and was able to snap the column
Matching rosette
Caladenia carnea on the way out - a bit like the 2nd one
A few of these pink runners on the way back - not done ID yet
Crossed over to the south sand track - a few more fingers orchids - no bands and dumpy fingers
Close up
Double header - this has flared lobes with pink edging and the carmine bands
Close up
Next one has the same flared lobes which are all pink and no bands
Tiny pea flower - twining glycine
Saw a lot of these - the fluffy stuff made me stop - no idea what it is. Right there was another orchid
A blunt-tipped greenhood just showing signs of closing up
As I worked around to get photos of the next one I spied a greenhood with a different shape. No twisted labellum and point of the helmet only just in line with the yoke - thinking pterostylis oblonga because of the elongated galea going down to the stem
Did get front on for the other pterostlyis curta
And side on of the other pterostylis oblonga.
Turned into a 5 orchid walk. Was nice under the big trees - not too hot and bird life was fab.
Was hot on the road for the rise back. Had to stop twice to rest and after a close encounter with a car overtaking toward me. Had to dive in the shoulder in a spot full of banksia seed heads. One miss and I was down and run over. Douche
Went over fir drinks with our puppy friend. Nice to see the dog and have a chat. Did bbq mince patties with salad for dinner.
Late night doing the next cycle of covered calls. Did some analysis on Canadian uranium sticks. Bought CVV.TO, STND.V, LMT, QCOM, GLEN.L, UBSG.SW, DWSN, E, NN.AS, UEC. Sold UMG.AX. Sold puts on PKX

Very beautiful flowers, the shadow of the flower petals looks very unique
