Scouting out autumn orchids in Seven Mile Beach NP : February 20 2024

avatar

Another rainy start - so much for El Nino. Got the investing accounting done. Started work on the next IM launch - another product from Kevin Fahey. Did get out around middle of the day for a ride with forecast of storms in the afternoon

Chose to walk in two loops to check on chiloglottis orchids. Loop back to the bike in the event of rain. Spider was posing in the middle of its web eating some prey - not spinning. Just touched the web and it headed to the fringe of the web

Undescribed species - maybe the best photo I have made

A few of these - one day I will get the right botanic name

Australian native violet

This was the mission - chiloglottis leaves - not seen the visit before

Longer stem suggests this is a greenhood - also not seen last visit

This is what the walks are for - find what is coming along and enjoy the sounds of the bush - lots of birds and the sea

With the regular rains mushrooms are popping up - a nobbly version

Lichen too - this dropped off a tree above the mushroom

A different tightly packed form - hard to say if it is the same or different

More conventional mushroom form

Rain drops started just at the end of the first loop - jumped on the bike to head home - the weather ahead

Dry behind - too bad was not going that way

Coolangatta Mountain in menacing mood. Made it home just as the big rain hit

Good to get out and good to stay somewhat dry.

We had dinner with friends a few houses across. Nice to not have to cook

Clouds started to break up with a good sunset

Trade action: Bought LOT.AX, SLX.AX in pension portfolio - adding to #uranium exposure

Investing post done - read it here https://mclnks.com/tib695

I like the color of that spider. I haven't see any colorful spider before.

Eheh, is it true that spider is poisonous?

Not many spiders are dangerously poisonous. A lot is because their mouths are not big enough. I get a lot of spider bites - I walk into a web every walk. I might get a red spot.

The colours for this class of spiders are fab - golden orb weavers - they come out in autumn
