Midge orchids plus in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP : February 28 2024
Had a plan for the day. Head out to do the week's shopping and then walk for some orchids. Did not work out that way at all. Car would not start - 2nd time in a few weeks. Decided to go find a new battery. Took a while under a hot sky to get the new one installed
Got so hot - skipped the shopping but drove up to Ku-ring Gai Chase NP to walk the bush. Epacris pulchella to start
Purple fringe lily
Banksia budding
Purple leptospermum
Conesticks in different stages
Who knows what is ahead or behind
Tear-drop flower - always tough to get in focus
One bonnet orchid still going - zoom in to find a bug - maybe 4 mm long and 2 mm wide
Another late summer orchid - cryptostylis subulata - tongue orchid
Part of the mission was to find midge orchids - found one under the tree canopy which is a bit unusual

Found a few more further along. This photo shows the capsule swelling after pollination

Surprised to find a patersonia iris open this late in the season
Angophora flowers on the ground - cockatoos been busy above

Hard to get a photo of the grasshopper - kept hopping away
Went into city for drinks with a friend. Been a while going in. Was surprised how many people were about.
No dinner - snacks
