Summer and autumn orchids in Seven Mile Beach NP : March 6 2024
Another late night makes for a slow start. 2nd 1am night in a row is hard for an old bloke. My wife headed out shopping. Spent the morning whacking out the weekly investing post. Was late out on the bike to get in a walk. Same start as the day before but walked the other way to start
This is cross over season. The walks are recces for what is coming - a huge cluster of greenhoods in a new spot. Going to be a good season
This cluster has a good 20 plants
Budding acianthus orchid
Undescribed species - each time I walk the track, there are a few
A different greenhood
Became a day for mushrooms - lots of these
View of the underside
Track was blocked off by a fallen tree - walk around and here is a slender hyacinth orchid - would not have seen it otherwise
Close up - dipodium variegatum
Cannot have a walknin Seven Mile Beach NP without an Australian native violet
Saw the heart shaped orchid leaf and behind is another mushroom
Top down view
Also found in black
New leaf forming on greenhood - next will be a flower spike
Twining glycine
One more undescribed species with a seed pod
Australian bluebell
Mini mushroom in dried porcini mode
A mini daisy type - smaller than a US penny
Off track - pterostylis oblonga leaves
There were lots of spiders across the track - top down view
Legs view
Another big cluster of greenhoods - never seen so many here
Talking about never. Never seen a white version of twining glycine - normally purple
Debated about walking the slice of track walked yesterday. Walked it the wrong way with the section back into the sun. Decided to walk it again with sun behind and was rewarded
Chiloglottis diphylla - common wasp orchid in a known spot has survived track work
And one across the track - same area.
Shirt ride - nice walk - two orchids flowering - heaps of mosquito bites
Friends came over for dinner - eyenfillet on the bbq
Getting back to using charcoal - it is a test for winter. Rules say no fire pits but barbecues are allowed
Fillet turned out well - still a bit overdone to my taste.
Did mention the investing post - a lot about uranium

Thanks - it is mushroom time. The spider was a bit bigger than tincy wincy. Do not know how I did not walk into it the first time past.
Looks to be an orb spider again, love the bush when you find variety around every corner.
Probably is. Not sure how I did not walk into it first pass. This is the price of walking in the bush in autumn - spiders
We get some amazing big ones every so often, smaller jumping spiders more often though.
