Emerging greenhoods on Seven Mile Beach NP : March 10 2024

Another different day. Friends coming to stay. We met them for lunch at one of the oyster places at Greenwell Point. Fab oysters and fresh prawns. The ladies had bubbles and the blokes did the driving on alcohol free beer. Breeze was good on a warm day.

Did grab the chance to go for a ride and walk in mid afternoon. Rode to my marker halfway along the mid section of Seven Mile Beach NP. Not walked this slice during the summer - mission - find the new season stuff. Right at my feet where I parked the bike were these two orchids

Did see the native violets on the way to the track - photo taken on the way out

The mission - find what is one the way - greenhood rosette - count the leaves - typically 5 before the flowers - a few weeks to go

Lobellia - happy to get good focus on a little flower

Four leaves - a few weeks to go - probably nodding greenhood

Budding acianthus orchid

Always keen to find two in a track

Nodding greenhood in a new spot

Wattle flower - a little out of season

So many greenhood clusters - looking forward to coming back in a few weeks

Lurking behind the orchid grasses was a mushroom

Going to be a bumper season

Was worth getting out - time to be on my own and reflect and escape the people.

Dinner: BBQ under a clear sky - nice end to the day.
