Orchid Repair Day - and car is fixed : May 2 2024

Mood is getting low. I want to drive down south to our house in Shoalhaven Heads. My car was not ready yesterday and mightily quiet in the morning - kept myself busy doing the investing accounts. The call came in after midday

Jumped on the train in Gordon for the few stations south and then the walk to car service centre

Walked into the industrial area. This warehouse caught my attention - why not flash up the outside - a good Colorbond advertisement. Industrial does not have to be boring

Good news - the exhaust work is now good with no nasty vibrations. And the front windscreen washer works - and no charge. Now I can plan to drive south and to see my son and his family

Spent the afternoon on the orchids - got a few that are not happy

This oncidium has developed a rot in the pseudobulbs bit has new leaf life growing. Reported it in fresh bark and chopped out the rot - laced with cinnamon to protect the cuts. Will see

Leaf has black spots - some sort of fungal infection. This is frustrating as the plant is a few years old and never had problems until we moved. The change - it loves under cover outside whereas it used to be inside

Not the only unhappy orchid - got rot going on - repotted this one too. This one was in an outside greenhouse - does not like open under cover home

A different challenge - leaves gone burgundy - does not like the cool of outside. Need a plan - will do an mini greenhouse in our enclosed patio. Got the space

Not all gloom. This orchid is flowering with a few spikes going - totally happy outside through its new home is cooler than where it came from (from a friend in Port Macquarie)

Dinner: Made cottage pie with last night's bolognese sauce - done in airfryer
