Beach Road Seven Mile Beach recce ride : April 24 2025

avatar

Looks like a dry day despite the forecast of showers. Got out on the bike to ride to Beach Road side of Seven Mile Beach NP. Did not get this far last time. Could feel the benefit of my tour last month - legs happy to work flat roads

Target for the day - acianthus and corysanthes orchids - flowers or not? A budding acianthus - this was the best there was

Also a recce work for greenhoods - 4 types seen this side normally - rosette for nodding greenhood

This small brown spot on the background of an acianthus orchid caught my eye - the mushroom is a little bigger than one of those plastic pinheads your mum had. Too small to get focus

Scurvy weed deep in the bush - not a weed here

Greenhood colonies are a lot more rigorous than last two seasons

Close up - not round enough leaves for nutans

Some work been done on cutting down the lantana - it kills everything below. Should never be allowed to take hold. Turned here as always

Turning into a fungus day - already deleted a few out of focus photos - brown in a line

Dappled light for this brown model. Met a walker on the way back to the bike. Have you seen the ghost mushrooms? I know there are a lot from where you have just walked but I did not go that far. As it happens there was a fab display the way I was going

This cluster has gone all around the tree - at least a metre run

A few clusters above ground

Zoom into the loop on the ground

Photographer was not fully focused - amazed to chop off the left edge on this photo

Next of the mushrooms

Nodding greenhood rosette. Going to be a bumper greenhood season - this week's rain will keep them going quite a few more weeks

Quite a different mushroom form - maybe as it is opening up beyond parallel. I did see the insect - zoom time

Zoomed into the bug - a fly

There were a few sprinkles of rain while I was in the bush. The canopy kept the rain off me. Ride home was dry

Good recce walk and a hit and back bike ride

Went over to friends for a drink. Came home early to cook my dinner. Heading back to Sydney tomorrow - not my plan to go back this early - it is the way things go. Gon with the flow and no chance to see my son again.

Last night was when I realized that mushrooms grow very fast. One looked like a baby mushroom last night but this morning, it was fully grown
