Blackbutt Creek mushroom and orchid walk : May 2 2025

Weird dreams - really wierid with all my kids. And a rainy day to add to the tough feelings. What to do. Do investing accounts. Work on some IM stuff. Walk to the shops - out of beer for one thing. My wife's plans for weekend take shape - she has to vote tomorrow and then we can drive South

Went out for a late walk to Blackbutt Creek when the rain eased umbrella in hand. Started out same route as day before and the rain held off. Light was poor and did not spend good time to get focus right - small nodding greenhood

Was a walk for mushrooms. They present their own photography challenge as the light colur wants to grab the light - this one is quite large making it a bit easier

Budding orchid I saw in this spot two weeks ago is showing - sharp greenhood - another low light photo. Not seen them this high up the track

There were mushrooms - almost in focus light grabber

The next of the chiloglottis orchids - no buds yet - note the serrated edges to the leaves

Found a few colonies of sharp greenhoods - some deeper off the track than I have seen before - pterostylis acuminata

Easy to see why it got the sharp greenhood name

Quite a lot of these flowering late - woolsia pungens

Four corners flower ending - was not expecting these

I think they call this the parachute mushroom. It is half the size of a US penny

Stopped to check the chiloglottis orchid leaves for flowers - the sparkles are sundew flowers getting ready to open

Surprised also to see this still going - NSW coral heath flower - epacris pulchella

My friend Gee loves pea flowers - saw one in flower- got the photo

Got the leech - one one the knee where I went to ground. And one found later on my hand - it hurt

And wound into the reduction burn warning rape an orange one

Steps done - cooked macaroni cheese for dinner. We go down south tomorrow after voting is done
