Lantern Flowers in Gordon : May 12 2025

Another rainy day - gets in my headspace about getting out. New cleaners arrived - did a good job. Not tall enough to clean the ceiling fans - I did those

Went walking late to get steps in. First photo gives a bit of a theme - lanterns - red Chinese lanterns. Around the corner - bougainvillea - also like a lantern

Reminds me of my growing up home in Johannesburg though the red never flowered as well

Red fuschia lantern - hard to get a focus always

Not exactly a lantern flower but close in shape- azalea

A mushroom cluster on one tree - like pancakes

This is what they grow into full size - twice the size and folding up and back beneath

The intermediate stage shows the darking tops and the start of the fold

Like I said pancakes

Autumnal colours - contrast of the wall and the green works

Walked past this house a few times - old style - it had been painted - red brick is now white

Do have an eye for roof shapes - this one has a stained glass window up high

One last mushroom in the park. Loved watching the young kids learning tennis. One bunch were shorter then the height of the net.

Friend we bought the apartment from visited for a drink - always nosey. We had a good chat

Dinner: Cooked Italian meatballs. Watched MasterChef after.
