Seven Mile Beach orchids, pollinators and mushrooms : May 16 2025

Cloudy start with a forecast for rain. Did not look that way at all. Was thinking an umbrella walk - decided to take my chances on the bike to ride to the middle of Seven Mile Beach

Was something of a mushroom walk - only half the photos made it

Quite a few acianthus orchids flowering most with pollinator action - this small fly everywhere

Native violet 💜

Silver top mushroom

Crinkly form in brown

Pixie caps orchid with pollinator - it is a photo challenge as the flower is tiny - maybe 3 match heads long - fly is maybe 3 mm

Part of each work is a recce - budding greenhood

Budding helmet orchid - looks like spurred helmet orchid - corysanthes aconitiflorus

See how many buds you can find?

Next test- bud forming or a new leaf unfurling? Answer to previous question - 4

Tiny mushroom - it is tiny - picking the cross grass stem helped with focus

Spied this acianthus orchid because of the yellow spots - pollen - an excuse to share a photo not quite in focus

Pixie caps orchid - acianthus fornicatus

Every upturned thing had water in it - been raining a bit this week

Not ready to turn the edges up

Puffer mushroom

Ghost mushroom

Mushroom pushing uo through the path leaf litter

Walked to the beach - looking north to Gerroa

Looking south to Shoalhaven Heads

Saw onebof these mushrooms in the open - too kucj light to get a good photo. Figured this one hiding in the straw would work better. The mushroom is bright white

Bright white mushroom on a tree trunk - so bright took a lot of editing

New mushroom find - multicolour on the edge of the track

This is what this grows to when it opens out

Close by another chance - 3 in frame

More greenhoods this season than I have seen on the way back from the beach

Sone budding - going to guess nodding greenhoods

Another - are the leaves the same shape?

3rd week checking this orchid - cobra greenhood taking shape to open - maybe next week. Only one spike showing in this spot

Pink mushroom has broken through the track

Another new mushroom type with a tinge of purple

Walked the side tracknto check one spot for greenhoods - one budding - only one out of 20 plants

Two in one photo - mini mushroom and greenhood rosette

Last mushroom photo for the day - a tad damp.

Rant photo - someone has dumped a load of soil in the access track - plenty places to do that without blocking the track. Ad it happens this was just a load of garden soil

Got the ride in. A little rain at the beach end of the walk. Pleased I pushed to get out

Dinner: a mini BBQ.

Stayed up late to see markets open. One trade adjusting VOW.DE - do like options expiry on an up week. Long chat with a friend helping his business progress

It is always a bonus. Funny thing is the walk two days back - none of those flies - only ants. Flies make better pollinators as they fly to next flower. Ant has to walk
