Blackbutt Creek mushrooms and orchids : May 23 2025

Another grey stay at home day. We did have a mission - go shopping in one of the big shopping malls. Could get the steps done under cover. Shopping mall was busy - no Saturday sport had everyone in the shops

Rain did break - went to walk local track late umbrella in hand. Not seen a mushroom like this. It has a bullet head and a ballerina tutu down below

Been raining a lot. Ben's Falls running strong

A day for mushrooms - low light is a challenge for taking photos in leech zone. Keep still to get focus. Keep still to get leeches

Two tone - about the size of an Aussie 50 cent piece

A few woolsia pungens still going - about the only flower open now

Budding chiloglottis orchid. Studied a lot of plants - maybe a hundred - only one bud

Tiny mushrooms against the moss - a photo challenge as the mushroom grabs the light. Edited a lot - brightness, exposure, highlights, contrast. Time to learn to get the camera to do the work.

Another adjustment special - red mushroom

Did a few two for one photos - orchid and mushroom. This one has a seeded orchid (ringed) - not often see these seeded and standing

A bit of blue on this black mushroom. Looks like something precious got squeezed

This one was in total sag mode - propped it up to get a labellum photo

Side creek made for a bit of jungle hopping to get through without getting wet

Sun did break. The umbrella was not needed and no leeches - a win walk - steps done
