Berry ambling on a rainy day : June 13 2025

Wake to a grey bleak day after a late night doing market stuff. Rained a lot. It is a different day as we have a friend coming to visit. He is coming by train. Somehow we got the train times wrong and I was early.

Gave me a chance to walk into Berry. Kind of strange as I have camped in Berry Showgrounds but never walked and taken photos. Memorial to David Berry after whom the town is named

Walked up to the main street - 1857 it says

Back to the station to meet my friend - train on time. My friend had sent me a message from Kiama saying he was waiting to leave.

Pick up done..drove to Bomaderry to do some shopping - working to shop once a week plus a few topups. Also walked the dog to shops to buy steak

My friend was bringing down a special wine he got in pack of 12 for R100 - maybe $12. This bottle alone pays back the whole $100.

1996 Chateau Latour

Highlights- colour was more brown than red. There was no oxidation and no sediment - a nice wine for a steak BBQ. My friend bought this 50 years ago as a case for not a lot. This wine alone was worth much more than not a lot. Gonna guess it was at its best maybe at 30 years old - 1996

Dinner was good. Wine was fun. Became a late night doing uranium trades after Iran retaliated against Israel..
