New orchid find in Richmond Park Gordon - June 24 2025

The days around options expiry get busy. Did have ideas of getting out walking. Did not work out that way but I did get out walking

Did a loop walk to Richmond Park - maybe an autumn orchid to be found. Flowers on the way

Two tone camellia. A different style as the normal two tones have the pink bit running around the edges - this one did stripes to the centre

Huge trees towering over the road bridge - afternoon light - did the estimates. Going to guess the bridge is 40 metres above the creek. The top is another 30 metres up

A few this size

Found the next orchid on this track- budding nodding greenhood. One of 3 plants

Plant two budding. The value of walking a track over and over - new orchid find - pterostylis nutans is my guess

Walked a small side track not walked before - lots of pixie caps orchids flowering. Light was low - one photo only to mark the find

Vine time just beginning

Change of season colours

Cosmos flower on the way home. They remind me of growing up in Johannesburg. These flowered prolifically on the roadsides come winter time. The story- arrived in horse feed during WWI - came originally from South America.

My son did send me a photo of my granddaughter- no photos of the new addition yet

Whenever we go to the park in the summer, we see that the flowers and plants are in good condition if they are watered on time, and the flower you have shown is also my favorite.
