Stormy day - change plan - find camellias : July 2 2025

Storm brewed all night. Made for a disturbed night as I was planning to drive down to South Coast, leave the car and come back by train. Need my car down there to help my son but want to be able to help my wife travel down next day

Well the rain bomb headed down to the South Coast and the travel advisory was to not travel - trees down, flood waters, disrupted train services. Even though the weather was moderating - decided not to go. Perfect weather to catch up on last week's investing

Did do an umbrella walk to get the steps in - it was cold but not as windy as the day before. Became a camellia walk - single pink form

Quite different form with the flower folding back a bit

Noticed the trees have got protection fences around them. Tells me there is a building project underway - indeed there is. Tiles taken off the single story house - they are likely putting another story on it. Wonder if they are required to keep the old style

Next photo from a bit further down the street shows the shape of the old house better. Did notice the orchid growing in the tree - a cymbidium (in the circle)

Back to camellias - white form

And one in a deeper red. Walked right up to shops to squeak out the extra steps. Did get a chuckle - on a freezing cold windy day was a young lady with bare midriff and shoulders eating an ice cream. I chose to say nothing

View to the mountains on the cross street shows a bit of blue sky. Good news as we are heading to the mountains for lunch tomorrow - and I want to walk to find orchids
