White flower day in Lane Cove NP : October 14 2025

Got busy doing investing stuff in the morning. Got the weekly blog post out. My superhero jersey arrived - had to wait for the delivery. Got out on the bike to check if bike path in Lane Cove NP is open

First flower up - leptospermum squarrosum - makes for the theme for the day - white flowers

Seen these a few times now - not done ID yet

Road work is not done yet. The September 30 bit of the sign has been written over "until further notice". It really hacks me off as the alternate route to get to the other side of the river is not safe and I cannot take the bike on the bus to come in from the the other side. Locks out a good bike ride

Land up having to walk a track in she-oak bush which is not good for orchids. Does have good rock views

And occasional views of Lane Cove River from up high

Did get a view from the underside of an upside down flower

Back to the white flower theme - slender rice flower

And in tiny form just opening - ID not done

Sundew flower

River still a bit brown - not had rain for quite a few days - so it is a surprise

Hibbertia flower - not fitting the theme

And following the tiny white theme

First of the tiny yellow pea flowers

Another white flower - well away from the houses but it looks like an overgrown bramble

Wad there an orchid? Yes - budding cryptostylis orchid

A flash of white - maybe privet on the edge of the houses

The new superhero jersey was seen at the road closed sign. This one still says September 30 - maybe the texta ran out

Ride done - a bit more climbing on a hot day done for a while. The jersey got me out there

To end the white flower day - from home - the one day display of Brazilian Walking lily

Walked to shops when I got home - a few things needed and knocked over the 10k steps

Dinner: Simple BBQ washed down with a 22 year old Shiraz from the vineyard I lived on. Maybe the best vintage ever from a hot year
