Kalkari Track orchids : December 10 2025

A slow start - was hoping to go up to Blue Mountains for a walk. Forecast was a bit iffy and took a while to get moving. Took the car to check on a specific orchid

Spider show on hakea - the start of the theme for the day - white

A bit of of contrast against the scribbly gum

Conesticks flower - a lot open

First of the coral heath flowers

Banksia just pushing out new leaves. Wonder how long to flowers? Check in a few days

Back to the theme - mini flannel flower

A tapestry of white

Not quite in theme but close - grey spider grevillea

Trigger flower - getting a bit confused on these - flowers look the same but leaves are different. More ID digging needed

First orchid of the day - slender hyacinth orchid

Close up - dipodium variegatum

Next orchid opener - bonnet orchid

Purple fan flower

Budding hyacinth orchid - good to see all are doing well with no fungal droop

And then one gets lucky - an orchid with a pollinator posing

Closer in - dipodium variegatum

Hibbertia

Pink spider grevillea

Hairy pea flower - not noticed the hairy before

Lambertia formosa- a few still going

It is Christmas bells season - this one a bit chewed

Wattle flower a bit late in season

Flax flower and a bug

Cymbidium orchid up high - new spot

The photo challenge for the day - a tiny yellow cross

Next orchid for the day - bonnet orchid - cryptostylis erecta
