A different take - tree trunk forms in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP: December 17 2025
Had a late night and a slow start. That put paid to wanting to drive up to the mountains. Got busy doing investing accounts. Did get moving and caught the train to walk Mt Ku-ring Gai Track. Hoping to find 3 orchids
Did find banksia opening on the street verge - a bit early - maybe an omen
Delicious monster also budding in a garden
Context photo on the underpass - head right for the Great North Walk - a bunch of young blokes went that way. I went the other day
Conesticks flowering
Lambertia formosa - end of days
Purple fan flower - a bit 3D for the camera to focus
This butterfly buzzed around and was prepared to pose with wings partly open
This tree shaped the theme for the day - looks like a huge growth making it look like a baby coming
Wide at the base scribbly gum
Also wide - growing and spreading across the top of a big rock
Went off track a bit - found a geocache. The bit of paper inside said to look for the fire-fighters memorial. Got a feeling the cache had been moved

Find a leaf - look for the flowers
Low on the ground made for tough focus. Lesson two - take more than shot
A few pale flax lilies on the way back - maybe the width of a US penny across
Pine-leafed geebung just opening from the bottom
Back to the theme. A lot of the trees have V openings just above ground - maybe where a fire was started.

Goodenia. Happy with this shot as the flower is smaller than the one above
More split wide trunk form
And more - not all the same type of tree. Tree ID is not my gig - yet
Did find a banksia flowering in the bush. Seems a bit out of place - just one - fully open - early
Bush was buzzing with cicadas - a husk of the smaller version
Did the shopping. Cooked dinner for a friend - simple mix of stuff on BBQ
And did progress IM stuff - new launch
