Love Chatswood shopping to City escape : December 19 2025

Have a hot day cooking up. Too hot to think about riding down to the National Park. Decided to do an AC trip - train and shopping in Chatswood. Just wander around in the AC shops and see what pops.

Sign in TKMaxx will capture the spirit for many. Not really my scene - Chatswood has become a mini Hong Kong since 1997

One of the best Peking duck spots is testimony to the new history. I resisted the urge as we have plenty of food and lunches are sorted for a few days

Christmas shopping used to be lingerie - my favourite supplier has changed designs and fabrics and sizes so much - can no longer bank on them. Finding different avenues - committee was happy with colours

Train waiting time - an image for the new times - always gawking at a phone

Headed home early - did I mention hot? 39C for the walk home from the station.

Plan is to pack the car and drove southwards. My wife will catch a train. Was to hot to plan a walk. Picked a time to leave which would get me to crossover station in time for the likely train

Was a bit early to give some time to walk into Royal National Park. New sognage by the local council

Banksia flower - a little early in its season

Got to the edge of Engadine Lakes when the sprinkles began - big storm further south building. Time to turn back

Loofah flower - my name - on the edge of the lake. Not seen these our side thus far this year. Turnaround timing was good - got the phone call from my wife when I was only 50 metres shy of the station

Uneventful drive from there to Shoalhaven Heads with moderate traffic. My wife drove. We were early enough to go to Bowling Club for monthly badge draw. Decided to have a wind down evening in the house instead which worked well.

Cooked a bit of bbq - better than listening to announcements across the public address in the club and eating mediocre food

Busy days like this really make you appreciate a peaceful night at home. Loved the mix of city shopping and a quick nature escape, even if the rain had other plans.
