Escape to Shoalhaven Heads - shopping exchanges done : December 27 2025

Turned into a long day heading south. My wife headed into the city to exchange a gift. Plan was for me to pack the car and meet her at a station on the way south. I was a bit slower than her bit we did find a better station to do such pick ups- more trains. Bad news - needed to stop off on the way at another store to do the exchange - turned out to be two stores but we did get a chance buy sushi for lunch. And the exchange happened

There was enough time and daylight to go for a ride down to the river - surfboard Christmas display at the local shops

Paddle boarders coming around the top of the island - flat water and no wind makes for perfect paddling

Still a lot of flood debris along the river bank - was supposed to have been cleared. Need more pyramids built

Cycled up the boat ramp side. One house for sale one down from the last house. Looks like a knock down on your own funds - bank will never give a mortgage in the floodplain. Nice spot but the road does flood every year

Large egret fishing and a slice of Coolangatta Mountain

Pelicans always here - they hang around the fish cleaning area next to the boat ramp

Large egret was reticent to pose but the mountain did not move

Been a while to get on the bike. I do love the easy access to safe roads directly from the house

Friends came over for drinks. Turned into a nice BBQ dinner on a calm evening - good to be out of the city

    We get the experience of life only when we go to different parts of our country and our city to visit them, and the views along the river are much more beautiful, and it feels great to see the birds here.
