Yellow themed day from Mt Ku-ring Gai Chase NP : January 15 2026
Crunched the morning away getting ready for a product launch - a bit of going to the starting blocks to refresh stuff I used to do and fallen off with the advent of AI. Starting with review access to a program which has a video of one hour and 9 minutes. All talking and no over the shoulder training. Made for a long morning. Weather forecast is for storms.

Took the train and an umbrella to walk Mt Ku-ring Gai Track hoping to find midge orchids. Chatted with Outward Bound walk leaders at the station - we talked leeches. They had found plenty in their walk from Central Station. That had me wary - I hate them
The bush is similar to the track I walked yesterday - same altitude, same West-East lie, similar bush with grassy areas, level ground. First flower up is pine-leafed geebung - one flower open

Yellow bark of the scribbly gum. I feel a theme coming along

Pea flower in yellow. Not too many left open - this one cloee to ground. Always a good target with the hairy leaves

Love these - they are so tiny with a few shades of different colours - NSW coral heath flower

You guessed the theme by now - yellow - hibbertia

Grey spider greviilea breaks the colour theme

Always catch my eye - while I was taking the first photo there was a bug flying around. Tried a few shots I flight

Did get a shot on landing. The flower is half the size of a US penny. The fly is maybe 2 match heads long and one wide

Dropped off the edge of the escarpment with half a mind to walk to where the ant orchids grow. Always intrigued how trees grow through the cracks in the rocks. Can only imagine the burn on this one was a human action. There is no fuel below

The she-oak bush is not conducive to orchids. They make the soil acidic. Turnaround photo does show the flashes of yellow of the geebungs

Geebung with a few more flowers open than the first one photographed today

A different heath flower - a bit more like a cone

Grand eucalyptus standing tall above Cowan Creek below

A late flowering for Sydney boronia - just one plant flowering. In season there are hundreds

Tiny mushrooms standing tall and a little wrinkle with age (weeks)

Noticed this house on the edge of the bush is empty since last visit. An amazing place with the bush right there and a short walk to a commuter station. Can vaguely hear the motorway

A touch of yellow on the way back to the station - banksia serratum

House for sale at the other end of the street. Photo of sale board only as there was a car in the driveway. 100 metres from station and the side fence runs along the motorway - noisy

Did make progress on the product launch - preview done, bonus page done - photo page comes from the preview. What is it about?
