Raindrops flower walk on a Gordon rainy day : January 17 2026

A rainy day with forecasts of wild weather with thunderstorms. Well it was rainy. There were a few rumbles of thunder. Not as bad as forecast

No trouble keeping busy - had a huge options expiry on Friday with a lot of accounts update. Weather was milder than they said - I went for an umbrella walk not long after my wife left for an appointment

Started walk along the Pacific Highway which is on a ridge line. Was windy there - blew my hat off. Chose to drop off the ridge line to get out of the wind - these walks quickly become raindrop flower walks. Clivia with raindrops. Happy with photo - is hard to get focus right

Study closely and you will find a building in the murkiness across the valley in Macquarie Park

This plant always catches my eye - hard to know what is leaf and what is flower. What is clear is the white bit sticking out of the top is a petal. It is super delicate

Pink hibiscus and raindrops somehow survived the 42C day last week

Jubilee rose

Walk goes past the orchid man's house. One oncidium flowering well away from the fence - dancing ladies.

Blue plumbago with raindrops. Just up from there was the next topic for a raindrops walk in the suburbs. A SOLD sign on a house

.

A tidy cottage style house on one level on a corner block. Has had the "paint the brick" reno. Sale board photos suggest the inside has been modernised

SOLD board - move out day was today. This is when I start looking around to guess what will happen to the house - from this

A straight forward single storey house in a quiet street walking distance from the primary school

Maybe a change like this. Leave the tidy cottage in front, build a carport on the side and a drive through to the two storey addition behind. Looks in keeping with the old house

Walked down a road only previously cycled - jubilee rose and raindrops

Maybe get one like this - knock down and make a blocky house with a standard developer Edwardian design popular with our new neighbours from China

Somehow do not think it will go this way as the red brick is already gone and the house is on a flat section - no scope for an up and over on a double garage

If there is an architect involved could be like one of these straight line boxes with big windows

Back to vegetation - lilli pilli fruit and raindrops - photo worked quite well

Not walked this section before - runs into a dead end that fronts the primary school. Do like the bold colours. Also understand why the surrounding streets are a shambles when I cycle past on school days. There is very limited space for pick up and turn around along this dead end road. Everyone instructs the kids to meet away from this dead end

Interesting sign on school gates. Mostly schools are inclosed land. This sign says the public are free to use the grounds outside school hours. No registration needed - the QR is just to check when the grounds are not used. My path home is along the edge of the golf course the other side of the school. Could take a shortcut straight across the grounds or fly my drone. There is a gate on the bottom corner next to the golf course - no fence climbing needed

Another SOLD sign - house right next to the golf course dead end and the bush along the creek below

House is on a slope. The knock down rebuild crew prefer flat blocks. Going to go up and come forward to the street is my guess

Rain had eased off when I crossed the golf course - csn see the building in Macquarie Park. A few brave golfers in the rain

Got the steps done. Smashed some more accounting done. Sent out emails for the product launch I am working on

Got a friend coming over for dinner - did a roast pork to a different recipe. Flattened out the rolled pork - lots of salt - dry off - lots of salt. Low roast at 140C for 2 hours

The crackling was great - the clue - rack up heat to 250C for 30 minutes. The trick - keep the skin level all the way through the cook. Use balled up aluminium foil to do that. Was yum

I love how you shared the barbecue with family and your homemade drum grill. The ribs, chicken, and fresh salad all sound delicious.

No drum grill here - would be against the rules - cooked in the oven
