Building developments down St Leonards way where my son lived : February 1 2026

Another hot day cooking up. My wife is sick as a dog - cannot move. Was feeling like a nowhere day. Spent some writing up investing accounts. Checked the trains - they are running. Headed out after lunch to catch whichever train came first. Stayed on a train heading south a few stations longer listening to investing blogs.

Marya flowers on the way to station

View of the forum at St Leoanards Station - ticket barriers behind and a fab pink myrtle flowering in the concrete jungle

A few concrete jungle photos - office blocks in St Leonards

A bit of the old brick jungle. Warehouse now Berry Road medical centre

View back to one of the modern Royal North Shore Hospital buildings

Chose to walk this way to access the creek paths. My son lived just below here for a while - his first apartment. Big build happening

Impressive name - Landmark Quarter. A concrete block in a quiet street that will never be a landmark and there will be not enough grass or cafes to make it a quarter

Last house standing on the corner. My son tells me there was a grand old man and his scotty dog, Ralph. He was last man standing. Now it looks like the house could remain - building is going all around

Just a little down are these two houses still standing. Also holdouts - but nowhere near as old as the corner house

This apartment was being built next to my son's place before he moved. Complete now. Easy walk to St Leonards Station and the railway line runs behind the back windows

View back uo Newlands Park - my son's place highlighted with the arrow. Was a nice spot before the building began - quiet as it is below the highway and walking distance to shops

Followed the path down to and across River Road. Nice shot of the railway bridge - heading that way. Took a path to the right not walked before

A few brush turkeys on the path into the reserve

Sign into Smoothey Park. Not walked in from this side but have walked this path from the other side. Close to Wollstonecraft Station where I start the walks down Berry Creek

A few grand old trees in the park

A quiet spot to rest. Also a good spot to pick up a Lime bike - 3 there were. Might explore signing up - could be some extended trips. Gonna guess the batteries are dead

Was on wrong platform for my train. Run down and under got me there. Saved me a walk to Crows Nest

Still sick at home - toasted sandwich for me
