Grand old Killara houses : May 14 2026

Another rainy day forecast. Got the umbrella walk done earlier. Idea was to walk two stations down and do a look at houses loop

Hibiscus and raindrops theme perhaps - the last of the flowers in this spot

Peaked my nose into park to see if there was pickleball happening. None. Chose to keep walking along the highway for something different. Maybe a different theme - tree lanes

Back to theme one - hibiscus and rain drops

Took the next left to walk the top end of road often walked but not this block. Always turn off at the railway line. House on the corner is pretty grand

That set the next theme - grand old Killara homes. A Georgian block probably been rendered more recently

Old style flowers match the houses - camellia

A bit of a sprawling grand old house - the big house was added at the back. I gave up trying to remove the car from the front lawn. Got to use a PC

Short aection along the highway - apartment for sale. Busy in front but a short walk to station behind

Down the next road - grand house - The Oaks on the corner

Render jobs have created a mishmash of styles

Imagining this started as a modest red brick house. Then got extended with a bigger house extension behind

A different then they do this - build a blockhouse

Learned a bit about the grand houses. They were built when the railway got to Killara in the 1890s. Kind of intrigued - need to Google when the harbour bridge was built

Renovation under way

For Sale board around the corner - over the road from the station - just finished

The apartments look good. Mix of 2 and 3 bedrooms with parking underneath. Walk done and umbrella not needed.

Kept busy doing IM stuff before we headed out to celebrate an 80th birthday.

Was a lovely gathering of friends - mostly women as Viv ran a business called Image by Design a few years. Helping ladies dress smart

Made a snack dinner when we got home
