Grey day walk over Sydney Harbour Bridge : May 24 2026

Another grey and rainy day. Not counting but it feels like the 4th or 5th in a row. When we arrived in Australia in May 2000, we had clear blue sky days every day until September. Not this year. Did the hide away from the rain stuff - mostly IM stuff recovering from the the IT snaffles earlier in the week.

Had to get out. One of the easy jaunts is to catch a train and walk the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Always a photo opportunity and always lots of walkers and joggers, even if there is no cruise ship parked. And a cloudy day gives different moods to the bridge and Crown Casino behind

With a friend (and now also a family member) serving in the Australian Navy, there will always be photos of the Navy Yard. Posed photo of a Captain Cooks yacht and a red-sailed yacht with the Navy Yard behind

And tick-tacking their way was a flotilla of Optimus dinghy sailors. The dinghy sailors were edging their way down the harbour staying out of the main channel until their turnaround point.

Circular Quay in the gloom

Bridge Walk done and drop down to street level at the Glenmore Hotel. Chose not to stop for a beer - cheaper at home

Walked down Argyll Stairs to reach the Cut as a different route to The Rocks. Quiet here too - markets were on but not a lot of people

Evidence - a shot down the cut to the Quay - quiet

Sydney Vivid is on. One of the daytime light shows was attracting some attention

Not often does one get a shot of the Burns Philp building on Bridge Street with no cars

Spot the odd thing on the tram. The unit has overhead power connectors which are down. Power is coming from the tracks on this part of the line. Going to be scouting out photos in the next weeks of the overhard traction up. Best not be standing one foot on the rail and fingers in the other rail here

Got the steps in. Got the grey sky photos in. Did cook dinner - Mexican tacos it was. Sorry no photos
