Which Exercise Do I Like Better, Running or Walking

Greetings friends of Hive and the @sportstalk community, in this opportunity I am going to share with you which exercise I like more running or walking, based on my experience as a runner in different competitions in my country and now as a walker.

I consider that these sports are beneficial for health, since running and walking keep us in good physical condition and health, but when we are new we must first of all have proper running shoes and clothes that are soft waterproof type that absorb the sweat, and avoid sticking clothes on our body.

Now when we start in the sport of running, the athlete must have good health conditions, because if the person has heart problems or other conditions, you must have a medical checkup to be authorized to perform this sport. On the other hand, in walking any person can begin to practice it because it is less demanding, but this will depend on the needs of the athlete who starts in these sports.

I want to tell you that running is a more demanding sport because this will depend on the goal we seek, in my case I started since I was studying high school and my marks in my beginnings in the 10 km had times of 40 minutes, as I was training and learning according to the experiences of other runners I was improving my time, until I reached a time of 35 minutes in 10 km and 17 in 5 km, all this requires a great effort, dedication, and perseverance to achieve it. My workouts were 6 days a week with one day of rest.

It should be noted that with this type of training allowed me to improve my positions in different competitions in the country for five years, to maintain physical conditions is necessary to train daily because if we rest too long, then we begin to lose physical conditions and then we do not get the desired results.

Now for seven years, my brother began to do walks, but these are usually recreational, where there is no award, only the logistics of hydration and breakfast on arrival, then I told him that it was better to run because in competitions there is always recognition and awards. But it turns out that the walk is also demanding because it is not just walking but walking fast to be among the first walkers, which also requires excellent physical conditions to maintain speed in the walk.

After a while due to the pandemic of Covid 19, marathons disappeared and appeared the walks that were becoming popular in Venezuela, and I began to train, in this case my training I do two or three times a week, to maintain the physical conditions that are less demanding. Currently this is the sport that I practice because I like to climb the mountain, and the contact with nature to enjoy the beauty of the landscapes.

To finish, I want to say that I like both sports, both running and walking, but currently I want to walk, because for me it is like a challenge to improve my walking speed and enjoy the contact with nature.
