Running in flash gear will get you penalized in the Hash

While there are no rules in the Hash House Harriers there are traditions. Mostly these traditions are meant to just be silly reasons to make someone drink - which most of our participants want to do anyway but others are in place to discourage and punish people that wear expensive name-brand clothes.

These clothes offer no advantages of course and since this isn't a race to begin with no one really cares, it is just another way for us to have fun. But be warned, if you turn up with a $100 Adidas shirt with some science-fiction polymer fabric from DuPont in it, you will be put on the ice for it.

We don't have anything against Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc it is just something that we do here. We also punish people for wearing clean and new shoes. Most veterans, when they get new shoes, they will dirty them up a bunch before turning up to try to avoid getting "iced" because of it but people notice anyway.

While not required, it is highly recommended that you wear "official Hash House Harriers" gear such as those that are seen in the picture above. These shirts are normally made by individual Hash chapters, they are normally made of the cheapest materials we can find. They also tend to have quite rude things written on them such as the names of our members like "His Royal Anus", "Pussy Whisperer", or "Anal Boring."

On another note those expensive shirts are expensive just because of the name on them anyway and we are a stingy bunch who don't care about labels anyway.

Getting put on the ice isn't the end of the world and honestly, we all look for any opportunity to do so no matter whether you have actually done anything wrong or not. However, if you turn up with what appears to be a brand new designer label shirt that probably cost $50 and still has the creases in it from the fold at the store, you can be guaranteed that you are headed to the ice at least a couple of times.

Brand new members are of course exempt from this but they will be "warned" and pointed towards the "store" that we have at all of our events.

No one can ever complain that we are trying to profiteer off of the sale of our merchandise sine we almost certainly lose money on the sale of most of it. It is just part of being in the club. Most of our members have dozens of Hash shirts because they buy one for every new event and sometimes the shirts are given away to members. There are several people in our local Hash that I have never seen wearing anything other than Hash gear and this includes when I randomly discover them somewhere in public. These are the truly dedicated members for sure.

At the moment we are still suspending all of our runs in Chiang Mai until we get the "green light" from the local officials. For all details on upcoming events check out our official website here

The ladies do look a little nonplussed in the photo don't they. One of the women in the picture is known as "Burrito Butt" and she is actually one of the loudest members of our group. The picture doesn't correctly exhibit this though :)
