Pese a empezar ganando con otro tanto del venezolano Telasco Segovia, el segundo en esta Leagues Cup, el Inter de Miami tuvo que sufrir hasta los minutos finales para poder conseguir un empate, pudiendo llegar a la tanda de penales, donde no sólo ganaron 5 a 4, sino que además lograron conseguir 2 puntos que los mantiene en la lucha por avanzar a la fase final. La noticia negativa fue la lesión de Leo Messi a los 7 minutos de iniciado el juego, y aunque no se piensa que sea tan grave, al ser un torneo tan corto y con un formato muy diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados, las opciones de las Garzas de ser campeones disminuyeron considerablemente.

Otra cosa importante, es que no se enfrentarán equipos del mismo país, o al menos no hasta la siguiente instancia.
