Luego de comenzar la temporada en la liga española con un empate en su visita al Elche, uno de los recién ascendidos de esta edición, el equipo del ingeniero Pellegrini recibió en su feudo al Alavés, y aunque fue un juego más igualado de lo que se esperaba inicialmente, con un gol de Lo Celso en la primera parte, los béticos consiguieron su primera victoria, dejando también algunas dudas en su juego en el proceso.
