Maitland Niles Is Off To Rome

avatar

Arsenal has not given Maitland Niles the chances he deserves, he has only played 2 games all season against Watford and Norwich, and in both games, he put in great performances and in my opinion should be pushing for a starting place in the midfield.

He wanted to play in the centre and finally got his chance on loan at West Brom and then this season at Arsenal but Mikel seems to still have a preference for wasting game time on Xhaka who I feel offers very little to the Arsenal midfield.

It speaks volumes, that Jose Mourinho would want to bring Maitland Niles to Roma on loan for 6 months with an option to buy and he obviously sees something in the kid who should be playing regularly at a high level.

I don't think he will get much game time even with Partey and Elneny off to the Afcon as Mikel would probably favour Xhaka and Lakonga while Wilshire has been rumoured to sign a short term deal as extra cover.

If push comes to shove Odegaard and Ben white can take up a spot in the midfield as well as youngsters like Charlie Patino and I think that is what Mikel is thinking regarding Maitland Niles.

If he does secure a January move, I wish him all the best with his 6 months in Rome and I hope he proves Mikel wrong once again. At the of the season, Elneny will be gone along with a few others and this will be a make or break for AMN's career.

Does he sign on with Arsenal and fight for a spot in his best years or move on to find regular game time. We've seen how well Smalling and Tammy Abraham have done since leaving United and Chelsea to move to Roma and hopefully, AMN can do the same.

AMN is still seen as a utility player since he can operate across midfield or in both full-back positions, which has made it harder for him to hold down a position in the squad. He did want to join Everton in the summer but the way their season has gone I think he made a good choice.

A move to Roma would be a far better option.

While I understand your point about Maitland Niles, the truth is I don't see whom he can displace in the midfield as of yet. I've never seen Xhaka to be an idle Arsenal midfielder, but he is quite durable playing an outrageous number of minutes with all three of Arsenal's coaches. I can also say he suits Arteta's new 4-3-3 formation because AMN cannot be utilized as much as Xhaka in the LAM position. AMN needs game time but I doubt Arsenal's hierarchy will allow him go because of AFCON. I'm sure he'll get some game time ahead of Lokonga because he is more mobile than both Xhaka and Lokonga.

I disagree, I think his got far more mobility and better decision making than Xhaka, Managers for some reason have the hots for xhaka's passing range and allow it to excuse all his weak points, he lets his man run off him all the time and turns like a tank

Yeah, sure..I know he isn't mobile at all, but you must also admit he has some qualities. His starts more matches and any other since he came into Arsenal and has a wicked left foot amongst other things.
