Arsenal lose first preseason game

Arsenal have been in really good form during this preseason and we've seen how the new players are starting gel with the team and those that came back from loan as well as a few youngsters who are being promoted. Arsenal still have a bunch of work to do to sell surplus players in the next month which is where they should be focused with this bloated squad.

In their last game they played fellow premier league team Brentford behind closed doors. A game they lost 2-1 which isn't too surprising considering Brentford beat them in the first game of last season, a repeat of a year a ago.

Arsenal didn't put out their strongest team but that's no excuse because they should have strengthened all around and learned from the mistakes they made in the previous game.

One bright light was Nketia getting on the scoresheet once again, his 5th of the preseason thus far, but other than that, not much to report from this tame.

The team that started was:

• Turner
• Cedric, Walters, Holding, Tavares;
• Lokonga, Elneny, Maitland-Niles
• Marquinhos, Nketiah, Nelson

Next up is the game against Seville, before the season gets started next month
