Turner Starting To Win Over Fans

Arsenal fans have always had a love-hate relationship with goalkeepers I think Almunia put us all through the wringer and now we don't want to give any goalie the time of day. Cech and Ramsdale have been by far the standouts to join the club and while Ramsdale has made #1 his own, we do know that one injury can leave us in crisis mode, and having a second keeper can make or break seasons.

Matt Turner was signed to replace the unreliable Leno, who started well at Arsenal then made a series of high-profile mistakes and continues to do so at new club Fulham, reminding us why we let him go.

Turner coming from the MLS didn't really come with much fanfare with the goalkeeper making a £7.5million move to north London in the summer to replace the departing Bernd Leno.

The 28-year-old was bought in to be a solid backup option for Aaron Ramsdale. But, the American had come under criticism in the last few weeks with his first performances being a little shakey.

However, things look to be turning a corner as Turner aims to win over fans with every opportunity he gets, in his last two performances in the Europa League have eased the pressure with two clean sheets and improved play overall. Turner's back-to-back clean sheets give the Gunners major leverage in topping their European group. This will likely keep him in the Europa team for the rest of the season.

Turner’s performances against FK Bodo/Glimt are a good response to the recent critics having achieved two clean sheets and showing an improvement in his distribution we'll see if he starts against PSV and if he can keep this good form going. Granted FK Bodo/Glimt is a Micky mouse team, but Turner comes from a Micky mouse league and it's time he steps up his game.
