Talks Go Quiet On Tielemans

Arsenal have been chasing Youri for the best part of a year now, having him nearly run down his contract, he is able to speak to other clubs in January to broker a deal for next year, and Leicester have three choices, sell him now on the cheap, let him walk away on a free to any club he likes or get him to secure an extension, which looks like the path they are choosing.

Leicester City is confident that Youri Tielemans will sign a contract extension, which would be a blow to Arsenal’s chances of signing the Belgian. A new deal would mean a massive price tag and considering he is going to the world cup, that could do even greater wonders for his stock.

Youri Tielemans was one of the sought-after players in the summer transfer window. Clubs, however, preferred to wait for the best possible opportunity. The Belgian was the subject of interest from Premier League sides like Arsenal and Liverpool and even some big teams from other leagues across Europe.

Yet, none of those clubs thought it wise to pay Leicester’s £25 million asking price, one that is pretty modest if you consider what you're getting for the funds. If he does sign, he is likely going to end his prime years with the Foxes, if he goes for a 5 year, personally if I was him, id' settle for a 1 or 2 year extension and then use that to broker a deal to a new club.

Getting the new club to buy out the contract and give the Foxes the fee they are keen on and you still get a move would be the best option. If he goes for the long term deal, he will kill any interest in signing him for at least 2 years, and who knows what the next 2 years for him or Leicester will be like and if he gets another chance to get snapped up by a bigger club.
