Rant day Friday! & My Actifit Report Card: January 26 2024
Due to our year group assembly and sports day, I had an opportunity to squeeze in my readings after the planning session. However, my plans took an unexpected turn when I heard one of our special needs students crying and screaming in the toilet. My colleague, her learning support, was attempting to communicate with her, but the situation seemed challenging.
Seeing the struggle, I intervened and suggested using a communication board to facilitate understanding. It was disheartening to realize that despite my colleague's experience and the various professional development sessions and coaching she had undergone, she still struggled to handle such situations.
Upon introducing the communication board, the child responded positively, expressing her desire to draw. I guided her back to the classroom, shared her timetable, and explained that she needed to complete some tasks to earn stars before drawing time. The approach worked, and she cooperated, eventually becoming calm.
I know this may sound like a bit of a rant, but I needed to express my frustration. LOL.
On a different note, there wasn't much physical activity today as I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Finally, it's Friday though. My fave time of the weekdays! 😊
