Finding a new hobby in Golf

It has been a hot minute! I haven't been around much at all.

Despite that I have been keeping active, going outdoors and finding new things to do. One of those new things is Golf!

I have always enjoyed playing crazy golf or Mini golf for those not sure it's basically golf but on a very small course with objects and other challenging terrains that you must hit the ball past and get it into the hole!

Now here in the UK golf is quite expensive I did some browsing at sports stores and online like Amazon and for a full club kit it's around the £300 mark and can go all the way closer to £1000 now even after buying that you then have to find a golf course. The good news is that there are quite a few around town and more towards the coastal areas but the bad news is they have expensive annual memberships with the cheapest still costing £660 a year.

So it was assumed I'd never try golf or have fun with it, Well that's what I thought...

Turns out when I visited another mini golf course towards the showground arena on the outskirts of town they also have a big golf driving range and me being curious I enquired about doing it and was very surprised to hear that it's very cheap.

I paid £7 and that got me a membership card that allows me to scan balls and access the facilities and it also included 100 balls! So I got to go onto the range with 100 balls at my disposal but I didn't have my own gear! But not to panic they kindly provided me with some clubs but the majority of people do bring their own.

I set out onto the drive and got swinging, it took me a while to learn but after 30-40 shots I got comfortable enough to do full swings and I started hitting them more consistently.

Overall it was tons of fun and although it's quite far from me I look forward to going there again maybe taking a bus or a long bike ride to get there but hopefully next time with a couple of my own clubs I know charity shops in town are always selling used sports gear at a great price and golf clubs are very common in them.
