Saludos mis estimados lectores, luego de una intensa ultima jornada de eliminatorias europeas, se definieron los equipos que van directamente al mundial de Qatar 2022 y los que iran a repechaje por parte del viejo continente, playoffs (repechaje) que se disputara en formato de semifinal y final a partido unico, y para poder clasificar las selecciones tendran que ganar dos encuentros. De las 12 selecciones que jugaran playoffs solo tres clasificaran. Mas adelante en otra publicacion estudiaremos mas a profundidad como seran estos encuentros. Por ahora analizaremos cada uno de los grupos que conformaron la tabla de posiciones.

Greetings my dear readers, after an intense last day of European qualifiers, the teams that will go directly to the Qatar 2022 World Cup and those that will go to playoffs on the part of the old continent were defined, playoffs (playoffs) that will be played in semifinal and final format in a single match, and in order to qualify the teams will have to win two matches. Of the 12 teams that will play playoffs only three will qualify. Later on in another publication we will study in more depth how these matches will be played. For now we will analyze each of the groups that made up the standings.

El grupo A estuvo conformado por Serbia, Portugal, Republica de Irlanda, Luxemburgo y Azerbaiyan, en los papeles debería haber sido la selección lusa comandada por Cristiano Ronaldo quienes se clasificaran al mundial directamente, sin embargo no fue asi, los serbios jugaron muy bien toda su eliminatoria llegando a la ultima jornada empatados con Portugal, rival con el cual tendrían que definir su pase en partido directo, el cual lograron al vencer con marcador de 2-1 quedándose asi con la primera plaza de su grupo. Lamentablemente para los portugueses tendrán que jugar el repechaje en Marzo, no sabemos aún contra que equipo le tocara pero sabemos que será un repechaje bastante difícil.

Group A was formed by Serbia, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan, on paper it should have been the Portuguese team led by Cristiano Ronaldo who would have qualified directly to the World Cup, however it was not so, the Serbs played very well throughout their qualifying round reaching the last day tied with Portugal, rival with whom they would have to define their pass in a direct match, which they achieved by winning with a score of 2-1, thus staying with the first place in their group. Unfortunately for the Portuguese, they will have to play the playoff in March, we do not know yet against which team they will play, but we know it will be a very difficult playoff.

El grupo B tenia como favorita a España, quien llegaba a su ultima jornada aun sin clasificar , y tambien tenian un encuentro decisivo contra los suecos, el cual terminarían ganando con un gol de Morata ya prácticamente terminando el partido. En este grupo las eliminatorias estuvieron bastante parejas hasta llegar a la ultima jornada, y el equipo de Ibrahimovic estuvo muy cerca de obtener la primera plaza, al final fueron los españoles quienes se llevarían este boleto y los suecos directo al repechaje. Esta es la segunda vez que lo disputaran de forma consecutiva, en el mundial pasado vencieron a Italia y se clasificaron a Rusia 2018.

Group B had Spain as favorite, who arrived at the last matchday still without qualifying, and also had a decisive match against the Swedes, which they would end up winning with a goal by Morata practically at the end of the match. In this group the playoffs were quite even until the last matchday, and Ibrahimovic's team was very close to get the first place, in the end it was the Spaniards who would take this ticket and the Swedes straight to the playoffs. This is the second time they will play in a row, in the last World Cup they beat Italy and qualified for Russia 2018.

En el grupo C tenemos a Italia, la tetracampeona del mundo y la actual campeona de Europa, ¡ay Italia, Italia! nuevamente a repechaje. Los italianos no pudieron golear a Irlanda del Norte, tenían que haberlo hecho para poder clasificar de primeros, ya que los suizos en su ultimo encuentro contra Bulgaria anotaron cuatro goles y no recibieron ninguno. La posición entre Suiza e Italia solamente se definiria por diferencia de goles, ya que en todo lo demás estaban empatados. Al final de cuentas fueron los suizos quienes se llevaron el grupo con un diferencial de +2 tanto en goles como en puntos. Para los dirigidos por Roberto Mancini no será nada fácil clasificarse al mundial, empezaran como locales, y si ganan su primer encuentro el segundo podría ser bastante complicado, y no se sabe si tendrán la localia, ya que será por sorteo.

In group C we have Italy, the four-time world champion and the current European champion, oh Italy, Italy! again in the playoffs. The Italians could not beat Northern Ireland, they should have done it to qualify first, as the Swiss in their last match against Bulgaria scored four goals and conceded none. The position between Switzerland and Italy would only be defined by goal difference, as they were tied in all other respects. In the end it was the Swiss who won the group with a +2 differential in both goals and points. It will not be easy for the team coached by Roberto Mancini to qualify for the World Cup, they will start as home team, and if they win their first match the second one could be quite complicated, and it is not known if they will have the home team, since it will be by lottery.

En el grupo D tenemos a Francia, la actual campeona del mundo hizo su tarea, y clasifico de cierto modo muy tranquila, si bien en su antepenúltimo encuentro no estaban clasificados, lograron vencer, haciendo lo que tenían que hacer y lo hicieron tranquilamente. Como segundo lugar tenemos a Ucrania que si tenia un partido decisivo contra Bosnia en su ultima jornada, el cual lograron vencer, por otro lado los finlandeses estuvieron a solo minutos de irse a los Playoffs pero no se le dieron los resultados. Francia pisa fuerte para este mundial, ¿podra defender su cetro exitosamente? Ya falta un año para verlo.

In group D we have France, the current world champions did their homework, and qualified in a very quiet way, although in their last but one game they were not qualified, they managed to win, doing what they had to do and they did it quietly. In second place we have Ukraine who had a decisive match against Bosnia in their last matchday, which they managed to win, on the other hand the Finns were only minutes away from going to the Playoffs but they did not get the results. France is going strong for this World Cup, will they be able to defend their crown successfully? It will be a year away.

Por el grupo E tenemos a Belgica y a Gales, los dos primeros lugares del grupo, los Belgas terminaron en la primera plaza y se clasificaron directamente a Qatar, mientras que Gales ira al repechaje. Los Belgas terminaron la eliminatoria con 25 goles a favor y seis en contra, un diferencial de +19. Este equipo es bastante bueno, pero lastimosamente no han podido ganar nada. Veamos si pueden hacerlo en esta ocasión, en el mundial pasado fueron eliminados por Francia en las semifinales. Si observamos la tabla, vemos que Republica Checa esta de tercer lugar, pero disputaran el repechaje debido que tienen el mejor ranking de las no clasificadas por eliminatorias en la Uefa Nation League.

In group E we have Belgium and Wales, the two first places of the group, the Belgians finished in the first place and qualified directly to Qatar, while Wales will go to the playoffs. The Belgians finished the qualifying round with 25 goals for and six against, a differential of +19. This is a pretty good team, but unfortunately they have not been able to win anything. Por el grupo F tenemos a Dinamarca, quienes se clasificaron hace tres jornadas, en la numero 7 ya estaba clasificada, sus últimos partidos lo hicieron por cumplir por decirlo de alguna manera, pero ya no estaban disputando absolutamente nada. Este equipo viene de hacer una excelente Eurocopa, donde quedaron eliminados contra Inglaterra en las semifinales deforma muy dudosa, los daneses están jugando muy bien, y son un equipo a tomar en cuenta en esta próxima copa del mundo. Como segundo lugar tenemos a Escocia que tambien esta haciendo muy buen futbol, y será un equipo difícil de vencer en los repechajes, los escoceses no son muy conocido pero son jugadores bastante buenos y ordenados dentro de la cancha. Por ultimo, hay algo interesante en este grupo, Israel quedo de tercero y Austria de cuarto, pero por Uefa Nations League, seran los austriacos el otro equipo que disputara el repechaje proveniente de esta via.

In group F we have Denmark, who qualified three rounds ago, in number 7 they were already qualified, their last matches were played to comply so to speak, but they were no longer playing absolutely nothing. This team comes from an excellent European Championship, where they were eliminated against England in the semifinals in a very dubious way, the Danes are playing very well, and are a team to take into account in this next World Cup. As second place we have Scotland who are also playing very good soccer, and will be a difficult team to beat in the playoffs, the Scots are not very well known but they are quite good and orderly players on the field. Finally, there is something interesting in this group, Israel is third and Austria is fourth, but because of the Uefa Nations League, the Austrians will be the other team that will play in the playoffs.

En el grupo G tenemos nuevamente a Holanda, la naranja mecánica no pudo estar en Rusia 2018, les paso igual que a Italia, pero en esta oportunidad en su ultimo partido pudieron vencer a Noruega, tristemente por los noruegos que hicieron una excelente eliminatoria pero no pudieron al final. Erling Halland su jugador estrella y una de las sensaciones juveniles del momento no podrá jugar el mundial, tampoco pudieron hacerlo en la Eurocopa, asi que les tocara esperar para una próxima oportunidad. La selección que se disputara el cupo en la repesca será Turquia, que al igual que Noruega hicieron una muy buena eliminatoria, con la diferencia de que si le alcanzaron los resultados.

In group G we have again the Netherlands, the mechanical orange could not be in Russia 2018, it happened to them just like Italy, but this time in their last match they were able to beat Norway, sadly for the Norwegians who made an excellent qualifying round but could not in the end. Erling Halland, their star player and one of the youth sensations of the moment, will not be able to play in the World Cup, neither could they do it in the European Championship, so they will have to wait for the next opportunity. The team that will compete for a place in the play-offs will be Turkey, who, like Norway, had a very good qualifying round, with the difference that they were able to get the results.

Por el grupo H los subcampeones del mundo, la selección de Croacia logro clasificarse directamente al mundial luego de vencer agónicamente a los rusos en un partido donde la fortuna del mal terreno les ayudo. Luego de una lluvia el césped se volvió barro y en una jugada desafortunada llego el gol en contra de sus rivales, que sirvió para darle los puntos necesarios para obtener la primera plaza. Los rusos que se ubicaban en la primera posición les tocara jugar nuevamente en Marzo.

In group H, the runners-up of the World Cup, the Croatian team managed to qualify directly to the World Cup after defeating the Russians in a match where the luck of the bad ground helped them. En el grupo I tenemos a Inglaterra, la selección inglesa donde juega Harry Kane, Sterling y otros mas, prácticamente tuvieron unas eliminatorias muy fáciles, cuando vemos sus goles a favor, fueron 39 goles y solamente 3 en contra. Viendo esto parece ser una selección en la cual hay que temer, sin embargo los ingleses siempre han sido asi, un tremendo equipaso y no llegan a nada, mucho y nada a la vez, es mi forma de definirlos. El otro equipo que logro extender su participación es Polonia, donde juega Robert Lewandowski, los polacos tendrán que disputar el repechaje y se muestran como un equipo difícil de vencer para cualquiera que se enfrente a ellos.

In group I we have England, the English team where Harry Kane, Sterling and others play, practically had a very easy qualifying round, when we see their goals for, they were 39 goals and only 3 against. Seeing this it seems to be a team to be feared, however the English have always been like that, a tremendous team and they do not reach anything, a lot and nothing at the same time, is my way of defining them. The other team that managed to extend their participation is Poland, where Robert Lewandowski plays, the Poles will have to play in the playoffs and they are a difficult team to beat for anyone who faces them.

Por ultimo tenemos al grupo J donde esta la mancha, la selección alemana que tambien tuvo una eliminatoria relativamente sencilla donde marcaron 36 goles y solo recibieron 4, clasificaron al igual que los daneses, mucho antes de terminar todos sus encuentros, es un equipo que viene con una renovación, y Alemania siempre ha sido bastante poderosa, toda su historia asi lo demuestra, son tetracampeones del mundo y seguramente serán uno de los favoritos a levantar la copa. El equipo que quedo en la segunda posición fue Macedonia, quien sigue haciendo historia, participaron el año pasado por primera vez en una Eurocopa y ahora se disputaran el repechaje. Cuidado con este equipo, no son una gran selección futbolísticamente hablando pero vienen motivados, y eso hace la diferencia.

Lastly, we have group J where the German national team, which also had a relatively easy qualifying round where they scored 36 goals and only conceded 4, qualified just like the Danes, long before finishing all their matches, is a team that comes with a renewal, and Germany has always been quite powerful, all its history proves it, they are four-time world champions and will surely be one of the favorites to lift the cup. The team that came in second place was Macedonia, who continues to make history, they participated last year for the first time in a European Championship and now they will play in the playoffs. Watch out for this team, they are not a great team soccer wise but they are motivated, and that makes the difference.

Playoffs Qatar 2022

Bueno amigos, hasta ahora tenemos 13 selecciones clasificadas contando a Qatar la anfitriona, Brasil y Argentina por Sudamerica, ¿Cuál es tu favorita? La mia sigue siendo Italia, aun no clasifican pero tengo optimismo de que lo harán, esperemos a ver. Sin mas que decir, me despido.
